MILESTONE FOR SUPPORT NETWORK
March 1, 2021
The community support network has continued to serve the community of Mansfield Woodhouse. Despite demand slowing when the nation came out of lockdown in November the volunteers still continued to help those in need of our services, some were delivering prescriptions after they finished work.
One of our volunteers lost her mother to Covid in January and still carried on working in the community, in fact she delivered what was our 600th job in February.
This milestone saw us awarded with a thank you certificate from our local radio Mansfield 103.2, Mansfield Rotary and Mansfield & Ashfield News Journal in recognition of the support the network has and still is providing in the community.
To date we have completed almost 700Â jobs, this does not include the visits our dog walker has been making to help a lovely lady by walking her dog three times per week since lockdown started last March.
The dedication these volunteers have shown to the community during these unprecedented times is truly amazing and we are proud of everything they and the network has achieved since it was started a year ago.
NEW VENTURE
October 1, 2020
With the rise in staycations during the last year combined with the difficulty members of our Memory Café encountered when searching for accessible accommodation at an affordable price we took the decision to purchase a holiday let.
We can proudly announce that we are now have a beautiful fully accessible two bedroom chalet available to let in Chapel St Leonards.
The chalet is situated on Cherry Park a quiet family run site within 10 minutes of the beach, it has been completely refurbished and is ready and waiting for its first customers when lockdown ends in April.
You can book the chalet by following the link below
LOTTERY FUNDING FOR SUPPORT NETWORK
May 29, 2020
It is great news that we have received almost £7000 funding to continue supporting the community who are being affected by Covid-19 .
The project was initially awarded £1000 from Nottinghamshire County Council Community Fund to get the ball rolling and its continued success has gained recognition from Lottery Community Fund.
The team are doing a great job and are still delivering prescriptions and doing shopping for the residents of Mansfield Woodhouse. This funding will enable this to continue over the next year.
You can continue to follow what we are doing on our facebook group FOCUS POINT COMMUNITY SUPPORT GROUP
Pictures are of our volunteers, taking calls (in all manner of places), receiving donations for the local food bank, delivering prescriptions and shopping.
BOREHOLE FOR CHANDA
November 15th, 2020
Working again with our associates in Zambia we have continued our work in Chanda by drilling a borehole for the school and community.
The benefits of a borehole
Water unlocks potential by helping kids stay healthy so they can stay in school. Poor health leads to poor productivity, sickness caused by dirty water saps people’s energy to do much of anything.
Relieving hunger has to begin with access to clean water. It may seem simple, but we forget that without access to a reliable source of water, food is hard to grow and even more difficult to preserve and prepare.
The lack of water is an often insurmountable obstacle to helping oneself. You can’t grow food, you can’t build housing, you can’t stay healthy, you can’t stay in school and you can’t keep working.
